Islamic architecture in Pocitelj
Pocitelj was built upon a hill along the river of Neretva. The town is a real beauty, especially for the architects. Houses made of stone that are separated by stone roads are very interesting. They are all hidden by large stone walls that surround the town of Pocitelj.
The Turkish writer Evlija Celebija passed through Pocitelj in 1664. and in his books wrote: "In the frontyard of the mosque there's a big tree. This mosque was built by fathers of our Ibrahim Aga. The houses in this town are built one by the other, looking west towards the river.
